JSRF off to a Great Start!

  • by

Dear JSRF Friends:

Welcome to the first JSRF eNewsletter of 2012. We begin the year with optimism, belief, and faith that together we will empower the lives of teens to Experience Hope… and possibly save a life along the way.

Next month will mark three years since our beloved son Jeremy left this earth. Although we have traveled the valley of darkness, we must tell you that we too have had moments of hope. The following quote speaks to those moments: “Hope is transferred only through human beings. Hope is not outside us; it sings in our bruised hearts when some person other than a mysterious angel reaches out to us at the moment we feel like giving up. The spirit works through the touch of the person who believes in us enough not to give up on us; it is through people who give us their light when we are in total darkness that we experience the power of resurrection. Hope comes to life for a moment when one person reaches out sincerely to another”. ~SVdP The Joy of Being Human

We are off to a successful start since the launch of Jeremy’s foundation last May. Please help us continue to grow and honor Jeremy’s memory by sharing the good news about JSRF.

What a GREAT Start to JSRF!

On January 1st, 2012 we received a generous donation from the Twelve Oaks Foundation. Thanks to Anne Amick for facilitating this grant.

We want to thank Laurie & Joe Kane, owners of TreeTime, for presenting the JSRF with a donation of $1,970.00 raised during the highly successful TreeTime fundraiser this past holiday season. Thanks again to Anne Amick for coordinating this event. We also thank everyone who purchased items in support of the JSRF.

On January 27th, Nirvana Yoga Studio in Barrington hosted the JSRF Wine & Unwind event.  Upon entering the candlelit room, you instantly felt the presence of peace and relaxation. Laurie & Joe Kane gently guided us through the Chakras while simultaneously appreciating the tastes of different wines, chocolates and fruits. Proceeds raised from that event were over $500! We would like to thank Kate O’Donnell for all her help as well as Marlene Rucks, for use of the yoga studio.  For more information about yoga classes, please visit www.NirvanaYogaStudio.com.

June 23, 2012 – Save the Date!

JSRF is proud to announce that we have been selected as the charity of choice for a newly formed organization called Take A Stand (TAS)

The mission of TAS is to create substance abuse awareness to all families in nearby communities and promote involvement in the Lake County area.

Please save the date for June 23, 2012, as Take A Stand will host a 5K Awareness Walk in Lake Zurich. More details coming soon. All proceeds raised from the TAS 5K walk will go directly to JSRF to help a teen “Experience Hope”.
