Bringing Experiences of Hope in Loving Memory of Jeremy & Jean

Dear JSRF Family & Friends,

As we approach the upcoming anniversaries of Jeremy & Jean we are deeply grateful to each of you for helping us keep the memory of our sons alive. Your continued support — whether by reading the newsletters, supporting the Foundation financially, or simply reaching out, means more than we can express. We are especially thankful this past year to Jeremy and Jean’s childhood friends that have reconnected with us.

Some of you have been in touch for the first time since their passing — now as parents yourselves. Others have shared memories, made the effort to visit, or simply checked in to catch up. We were especially touched to receive another very generous donation from one of the boys’ childhood friends for a second year in a row. Hearing from all of you brings so much joy to our hearts — thank you!

April 25th marks 17 years since Jeremy passed away, and May 5th marks 16 years since Jean’s passing. We honor them by lighting their candles, looking at old photos, and remembering the many happy days we shared. What continues to give us purpose is carrying forward their legacy by helping young teenagers that are economically challenged, through the Jeremy Stom Remembrance Foundation (JSRF).

June and July 2025 were busy months filled with opportunities of hope. Our first teen of the year, Khristian, came to us from Chicago Jesuit Academy (CJA), he traveled to Camp Moosilauke for a four-week camp experience. We covered Khristian’s travel expenses to attend camp.

Founded in 1904, Camp Moosilauke is believed to be one of the oldest boys’ camps in New England and the United States, with a long tradition of outdoor learning, leadership, and growth.

Beyond that, 12 high school students had the opportunity to attend a variety of sports camps, including co-ed cross country, boys soccer, girls basketball, girls cheer camp, and co-ed track specialties. Each of these experiences provided not only skill development, but also confidence, connection, and lasting memories. Below are a few reflections from the students who participated.

“Thank you for sponsoring my trip to Camp Moosilauke for 4 weeks. I had a lot of fun at camp doing things like white water rafting, playing soccer, catching 3 fish, and doing arts and crafts. Your generosity has helped me find myself as a person, and make and develop friendships. Again, thank you so much for your kindness”

“I would like to sincerely thank you for awarding me the scholarship to attend track camp last summer. I am truly grateful for your generosity and support. Attending the camp was an incredible experience that helped me grow both as an athlete and as a person. I learned valuable techniques, improved my discipline, and gained a deeper understanding of the sport. The training and guidance I received prepared me in ways I did not expect and gave me the confidence I needed going into the season. Because of that preparation, I am having a very successful track season. I am proud to share that I am the 110m hurdles conference champion, and I also plan to compete at the state level again this year. None of this would have been possible without the foundation that the camp helped build. Thank you again for investing in my future. Your support made a lasting impact, and I will continue to work hard both on and off the track to make you proud.”

“I wanted to start off by saying how thankful I am for your support. Due to your donation I was able to participate and do what I love during the summer. Thank you so much for your donation, and to help Students to grow up healthy and emotional. I greatly appreciate you. Thank you.”

“Some of the things I enjoyed in football camp was making new friends and learning more about the sport. Camp made me enjoy football a lot more and the coaches made me like the sport and helped me learn more about it. And my teammates helped me push through even when I was giving up. Camp was really fun and coaches made it more enjoyable. Camp made me realize if you don’t put in work you don’t make progress which I learned during camp. Thank you Jeremy Stom Foundation for the scholarship.”

Although this is the saddest time of the year for us, it is also when we are most actively seeking to sponsor more teens. This year, we are especially excited to sponsor girls from CJA for the first time, as they now meet the age requirements for JSRF sponsorships. The 8th grade girls will be attending Camp Miniwanca in August. We have also reconnected with YMCA Camp Jorn, and will be sponsoring two 13-year-olds for a one-week resident camp in northern Wisconsin. We look forward to sharing more about the teens who will be sponsored later this year.

As we read and hear their stories, we are inspired by their resilience and filled with hope for all of our children and grandchildren. We cannot continue to provide these opportunities for hope without your ongoing financial support. If you would like to donate, we are always grateful for your support. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference.

Thank you for continuing to be part of our JSRF family, and remembering our beloved boys, Jeremy and Jean. We also hold in our hearts all those who read this newsletter and have experienced the loss of a child, especially those facing recent loss. We understand your pain, and we recognize how important it is to keep their memory alive and never forget them.

Peace, Love, & Gratitude,

Ciri, Scott & Sayra
